We all have moments when we suddenly realize something on a gut
level. It's a profound moment, one that's on the permanent highlight
reel of our lives. It may be something joyous, or something sad,
something ridiculous or something profound. Whatever it is, it's helped
define who you are right now.
Richard Watson called in to tell us a story from his time serving in
Vietnam. He was a "forward observer" during the war, which meant he was in
charge of directing his troops safely from one point to another. One day, he
nearly directed his troops right into a bluebird's nest. He still treasures the
memory of how he and the troops in the battlefield skirted around the nest. Listen >>

What kind of stories? All kinds. Here are some topics to get your storytelling juices flowing:
Brush With Fame
Ever have a close encounter with someone
famous and the moment has never left you? Maybe it was thrilling; maybe it was a
bust, or even a guilty pleasure. But meeting someone who's supposedly
larger-than-life can change the way we look at life, or ourselves.
Surprised By Kindness
After major disasters, there are usually reports of astounding generosity - such as stories of Sri Lankan villagers who had lost
everything, including family members, offering food and even their own beds to
help stranded tourists after the tsunami. Acts like these of course also occur when the media
isn't paying attention. That's why we want you to tell us about a moment you've
witnessed that surprised you by how unbelievably big-hearted it was.

Tipping Point
There comes a time when you know you just
have to change something in your life. Like the man who nearly drank himself to
death, but one day realized that he didn't survive WWII only to die drunk in a
gutter. So he stopped drinking, just like that. Or the high-power lawyer who
realizes that she always wanted to make saddles, and leaves her law practice behind.
Life changes often occur incrementally, but they're most visible in an instant,
and we'd like to hear about a pivotal point in your life.Add to story
Approaching Perfection
It's rare but when it happens,
it's unforgettable: that feeling that things are just the way they should be,
that you are exactly where you should be, that the universe is in place. In this
moment, everything about the world seems harmonious, and profoundly right. Maybe
it was an epiphany you had trekking in nature. Or maybe it came after suffering a loss.
These moments are fleeting and delicate, but if you've ever had one you know
exactly what we're talking about.Add to story
Oddest Coincidence
Ever bump into someone you know in a
completely remote, out of the way location? Or meet six people over the course
of an hour, and all of them shared the same birthday as you? Sometimes life
behaves as though it's following a script that even the cheesiest Hollywood
movie wouldn't buy. But strange things do happen, and that's what makes them
perfect for Your Story.

Last Time I Saw Her/Him
Tell us about the last time you
saw someone really important to you, someone you really miss. You can probably
picture the last time you saw this person now. Maybe it's an old friend from
your childhood. Maybe it's a loved one who passed away, or an old flame you
haven't seen in years. How did you say goodbye? Did you know it would be the
last time? Where are they now?
