Wayne's car had the support of Avis car rental, and made it to the cover of Popular Mechanics magazine. It went downhill for Wayne after the Post Office decided to look for another supplier, and Exxon, a major investor, pulled the plug. In the end, Wayne decided the U.S. wasn't ready for the electric car - and still isn't.
