A boy sits next to his dying mother on emergency room floor of Al-Kindi hospital after a brother, sister were also killed when a missle hit his house in the eastern part of Baghdad. Doctors who believed they could do nothing to save the woman moved on to patients that could be helped. American bombardments were heavy throughout the day and Iraqi civilian casualties at their highest point according to the ICRC since the invasion as US forces slowly grasped control of the city.
