Songha Willis Thomas
Hank grew up admiring his cousin, Songha. He tells Dick Gordon that Songha was everything he wasn't: tall, athletic, socially adroit, popular. When Songha was murdered outside a hip hop club in Philadelphia, he was with two friends who were accosted for their decorative chains. They both escaped. Songha didn't even have a chain. Songha's death remains a source of inspiration for Hank's artwork.
