CREDIT COACH
Kenneth Shandy
For many Americans, economic problems begin with steep credit card rate hikes and collection notices. Kenneth Shandy helps people learn how to get out of that kind of mess.
Kenneth calls himself a credit coach. He doesn't have a graduate degree in business, but he does have personal experience. As a teenage entrepreneur, he made and spent a lot of money. He had $20,000 in debt by the time he was 20 and had to teach himself how to dig his way out.

SUMMER JOB: CARING FOR MRS. BLACKBURN
Margaret Sudekum
Dick spoke recently with Alissa Braatz about the summer she spent working on a commercial fishing boat in Alaska. It was tough, but Alissa has found herself looking back on the experience as a strengthening one now that she's facing a layoff.
Margaret Sudekum responded to Dick's call for other stories of memorable summer work. When she was 16, Margaret took a summer job caring for a woman with quadriplegia named Mrs. Blackburn. Margaret says she learned a few lessons, including the idea that circumstances don't necessarily dictate how you must live your life.
