HEAD OVER HEELS IN DEBT
Dan and Mary Hass
As uncertainty grows over the economy, more people are looking at their own finances and thinking about how much to spend, and how much has already been spent.
Dan Hass was facing his 40th birthday, taking stock, when he began to see how deeply he and his wife Mary were stuck in debt. Trying to work out a budget was a strain their marriage couldn't bear: they got divorced. Dan spent 18 months living by himself in an apartment. He did nothing other than pay down the debt.Â
As Dan and Mary tell Dick Gordon, it was a fateful meeting with a priest that brought the couple together again, with a different working model for dealing with their finances.
