No Insurance Health care
Dr. Alan Dappen
According to a recent poll, 99% of doctors across the country say that insurance companies interfere in their treatment of patients.
Alan Dappen is a general practice physician who no longer accepts health insurance. But he is available to his patients 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, by phone. He says this innovation greatly reduces expenses for both him and his patients.
Before he opted out, the insurance system got him so frustrated he thought about quitting - he says this plan allows him to keep doing the work he loves.

Unconventional Speakers
Fritz Efaw speaks at the 1976 Democratic National Convention photo: Rolling Stone
Ted Kennedy's unscheduled appearance last night isn't the first time there's been a surprise speaker at the Democratic National Convention. Remember the movie "Born on the 4th of July" - the scene where Tom Cruise's character, Ron Kovic, was going to speak at the Democratic convention in 1976?
In fact, at that convention the real Ron Kovic did speak publicly - he nominated an indicted draft evader to become Vice President. That man was Fritz Efaw. Dick talks with Fritz about how he went from draft dodger to vice presidential nominee.
