Doctoring in the Congo
Dr. Kasereka "Jo" Lusi
Dr. Kasereka "Jo" Lusi risks his life tending to victims of war in some of the hardest-hit areas of the Congo. He performs operations in remote areas often under the crudest of conditions. And more than once, he's had to literally run for his life, as he's now become a target for guerillas. He does this work because he believes there's no greater act of love than putting his life on the line for the betterment of others.

Listener follow up - Following the Scent
Luca Turin
Recently, Dick talked with Luca Turin about Luca's book, The Secret of Scent. Luca described the allure scent can hold for us, but also how repulsive it can be when people wear powerful colognes and perfumes in public. Kathe Vaughan heard the program and contacted us with her own story, about going to the ballet as a teenager and smelling someone's perfume. Only she fell in love with this scent and began a quest to find out what it was.
