Gitmo Attorney UpdateÂ
Detainee at Guantanamo Bay
On Monday military judges threw out charges against 2 prisoners held by the U.S. at Guantanamo Bay. The ruling is a setback for the White House, and the Defense Department is considering an appeal.
Attorney H. Candace Gorman has just returned from her 5th trip to Cuba. She represents 2 Guantanamo prisoners, neither of whom has ever been charged with anything. One of them, Abdul Al Ghizzawi, is so depressed that she fears he may commit suicide.

Candace talks to Dick Gordon about her last trip to Cuba, and the new restrictions the government wants to impose on attorneys working with clients at Guantanamo. And she explains why she continues her work there even though she's losing faith in the justice system.Â

Anaheim is leading Ottawa 3-1 in the best-of-seven Stanley Cup finals. But hockey isn't on every American's radar. Particularly African Americans'. In fact, a black face under a helmet can still provoke double-takes from onlookers, and sometimes bigoted remarks.
Dick Gordon talks to Neil Henderson. Neil operates the longest-running hockey league for inner city youths in the nation. Neil played semi-pro hockey as a young man, and now mentors the next generation of hockey enthusiasts in Washington, D.C. Neil believes that hockey, more than any other sport, develops discipline and character.
