THE TELLING
Master Sergeant David Brunstad (pictured at right) is a veteran of the Iraq war and a current member of the Air Force National Guard. Recently, he invited family members to the base to witness his promotion ceremony. With the repeal of Don't Ask, Don't Tell, David was able to bring his husband, Darin, for the first time in his 17 years of military service.

When people go to war, it marks them, and not only them, but family as well. Dave Alvin is a singer-songwriter. He heard the story of his great-great uncle who was in Andersonville prison on the grounds of Fort Sumter, and that story became a song.
