KEEPING A FATHER'S WORDS
Gary Aitken knew his father died during World War II. Through an unusual coincidence, Gary finally found out about his father’s life and death when he met a soldier who had served with his dad. That led to a meeting with his dad’s driver, who had kept his dad’s diary for all these years.
TOM KEITH'S SOUND HAIKU
Tom Keith (right) died last week, and was the sound effects man for A Prairie Home Companion. His fellow sound man, Fred Newman (below), says Tom kept a pair of shoes hanging around his neck and could make the perfect footsteps, faltering or robust.
Listen in as Fred Newman whistles and whirrs, all in tribute to a master sound man.
Music in this program: Minstrel Boy, William Hamilton; Tishomingo Blues (feat. Garrison Keilor) and Atlanta Twilight, The Guys All-Star Shoe Band
