After the Oil
Charlie Seal, photo Carl Gibson
Charlie Seal is a Gulf coast fisherman who is waiting to see the effects of the BP blow-out. Dick caught up with Charlie at the Bay Saint Louis Marina in Mississippi. Charlie was preparing his 42-foot steel boat, the MT Pockets, for oyster season. Charlie tells Dick about a recent meeting with BP representatives. The oil company is offering big checks to the fishermen to help with the clean up.

RJ Kopchak - larger >>
While crews in the Gulf Coast are working furiously to contain the oil spill, fears that the slick may destroy local ecosystems, fisheries and wildlife are growing. RJ Kopchak was a fisherman in Cordova, Alaska when the Exxon Valdez ran aground and leaked oil into Prince William Sound. Some of the fisheries have still not recovered. RJ tells Dick about what it was like to be in his small town in the aftermath of the spill, and how the community was changed forever.

My Good Ol' Pontiac Parisienne
Mark Hoecker
We've had a lot of fun on the program with stories of items lost and found: a class ring, a stolen bike. Today: a big old lovable boat of a car. While living in D.C., Marc Hoecker's 1985 Pontiac Parisienne was stolen from a parking spot. Marc's anger spurred him to action and the beginning of a four-day adventure, involving stakeouts, car chases and ultimately lots of cops. Marc shares with Dick his real-life cops and robbers story, and how he and his fiancée will drive away from their July wedding in style.
