A hearing For Veterans
Paul Haggerty
Many war veterans struggle to fit in when they return. Some turn to drugs, or slide into crime. Paul Haggerty never expected to have that kind of problem himself. He'd dreamed of being a paratrooper since he was a kid, but his Army career was cut short by an injury. Four surgeries and 15 years later, he was addicted to oxycontin. He was caught and charged with grand larceny after stealing lawn mowers at a big box store.
Paul talks with Dick Gordon about what finally helped him turn his life around. After making his way through the ordinary justice system, Paul found a court especially designed for people whose crimes may be the result of their time in the military.Â

Daneen Warner
Daneen Warner was once on the fast track to a successful career in the medical services industry. But over time, she became disturbed by the shady ethics at the top and how, she says, drugs were rushed to market to please Wall Street. When Daneen recommended ways of managing asthma and diabetes that involved lifestyle changes, not drugs, she was shot down. Daneen talks with Dick about her time at the top, and what it taught her about our health care system.
