Dick Gordon

Dick Gordon

Dick Gordon was a foreign correspondent and regular fill-in host for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation's national radio program, This Morning. He was also a Parliamentary reporter, and correspondent in Moscow and South Asia. Before coming to The Story, Dick was host of The Connection.


Carol Jackson

Carol Jackson

Carol Jackson is the acting Senior Producer. One of her favorite shows featured the current underground railroad that assists North Korean refugees. She has won both a Webby Award (often called the Oscars of the Internet) and a National Emmy Award. She currently spends a lot of time playing with her 7 year-old son.  cjackson@wunc.org

Cori Princell

Cori Princell is currently acting as our Managing Editor. She has been a producer on the show since its inception. She got her start at Brown University Student Radio. She worked in radio and film before moving to North Carolina in 2003 to join WUNC. She recently produced a story about two friends in Kenya trying to get past recent tribal divisions. cprincell@wunc.org


Anita Woodley

Anita Woodley

Producer Anita Woodley is from Oakland, CA. She recently produced a story about a female soldier who revealed she was sexually assaulted by another soldier 18 years ago. Anita previously produced domestic news for CNN and received a NATAS award  for "exceptional coverage on 9/11."  awoodley@wunc.org

Rachel McCarthy

Producer Rachel McCarthy first ventured into the world of radio at the Salt Institute for Documentary Studies in Portland, ME. She was an independent producer for several years before joining The Story. She recently produced a story about one man’s survival in a concentration camp during the war in Bosnia. rmccarthy@wunc.org


Rachel Raney

Rachel Raney is a seasoned television producer. She most recently worked for KQED in San Francisco where she was the series producer for the arts program, "Spark". She also created and produced the documentary series "Truly CA". Her independent documentary work has aired nationally on PBS. Rachel has also been an associate producer and production manager for a number of episodes of PBS's Frontline. 


Janet_BabinJANET BABIN

Janet Babin joins The Story from Marketplace, where she was a reporter covering the intersection of business, science and innovation.  Janet has been a radio and television reporter and host at public broadcasting stations in rural Indiana and Cleveland, Ohio.  She also filled in as an NPR staff reporter in Washington and for NPR’s Day to Day show, based at NPR West.  Her journalism career began at a suburban Philadelphia newspaper.  Janet's work has won awards from the Associated Press, the Radio-Television News Directors Association, and the Federation for Community Broadcasters. She was also a finalist for a Gerald Loeb Award from the UCLA Anderson School of Business.


Al Wodarski

Al Wodarski

Al Wodarski engineers the program. He connects The Story to guests around the world, and makes sure we sound great.

Peter Bombar has had an extensive radio and television career as a recording engineer/producer and broadcast engineer. Prior to joining WUNC as the technical production supervisor, he was chief audio engineer and DTV project manager for WSKG Public Broadcasting.  At WSKG, Peter was responsible for audio post production on documentary projects that won a number of awards.


Interns

Our interns are often the unsung members of any radio team. An internship with the program is an inside look into the inner workings of a daily radio show. Interns conduct research, pull audio, pitch story ideas, do pre-interviews, update the website, learn to edit audio, and more! Many of our interns have gone on to full time jobs in public radio.
